James Adelman lives and keeps a studio in Montclair, NJ, a suburb of New York City where he spent most of his youth. His work has been exhibited in several prestigious galleries including Gallery51, the Herter Art Gallery, the Eli Marsh Gallery, and the Augusta Savage Gallery. Upon graduation James returned to his home town of Montclair and found studio space and gallery representation. He has been actively participating in group shows in between his own major exhibitions. During the fall of 2008 James concluded his second nearly sold out solo exhibition at Gallery51 in Montclair, which has been acknowledged as the most successful show in the gallery’s five year history. Grossing more than any previous exhibit at the gallery and leading to several major commissions; only three included works went unsold. In addition to his artistic endeavors James has maintained several part-time jobs. Most recently he has been working as a commercial photographer’s assistant and at a local bar and restaurant called Just Jakes.
And also he really likes cheese. |
